来日されているエディンバラ公爵夫妻は国内各地を訪問されている。
今日は万博会場を訪れたそうだ。

まずは高野山総寺院を訪問された夫妻と、前日に都内のウクライナ・メンタルヘルス交流センターや港区の根津美術館を訪問された夫人のことを記事に紹介したい。

日本訪問3日目、高野山を訪問されたご夫妻、コメント欄に畳の上で裸足でいらっしゃる夫人のことをソックスかスリッパを履くべきでは、と書かれ、日本のことを知る方が、畳にはスリッパを履くものではない、と反論している。
素足で靴を履かれていたとはちょっとびっくりだ。

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are undertaking a four-day official visit to Japan. On the third day of their visit to Japan, the Duke and Duchess visited Sojiin Temple in Koyasan, a historic temple founded during the Kyuan era of the Heian period. The Duke and Duchess were welcomed by the Mayor of Koya, Yoshiya, and Wakayama Governor Izumi Miyazaki.

  

エディンバラ公爵夫妻は4日間の日本公式訪問をされています。日本訪問3日目には、平安時代平安時代に創建された歴史ある高野山總持院を訪れました。公爵夫妻は、高野山高野町長・平野嘉也氏と和歌山県知事の宮崎泉氏の歓迎を受けました。

On July 7, 2004, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) inscribed Koyasan as part of the 'Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range' on its World Heritage List. On this occasion, the Duchess of Edinburgh wore a green floral-print silk dress by Max Mara and a white jacket by Altuzarra.

 

2004年7月7日、国連教育科学文化機関（ユネスコ）は高野山を「紀伊山地の霊場と参詣道」の一部として世界遺産に登録しました。この際、エディンバラ公爵夫人はマックスマーラのグリーンの花柄シルクドレスとアルチュザラの白いジャケットを着用しました。

　チャールズ英国王の弟で、日本を初めて公式訪問しているエドワード王子とソフィー妃が２１日、世界遺産・高野山（和歌山県高野町）を訪れ、子どもたちと交流したり、日本の歴史に触れたりした。（岡本珠梨）

高野町が英国の国際文化交流機関「ブリティッシュ・カウンシル」と協働で英語教育を推進している縁などで、訪問が決まったという。

　夫妻は、高野山内の寺院・総持院で宮崎知事や平野嘉也町長の出迎えを受け、高野山の写真集や漆器「根来塗」のつぼを贈られた。エドワード王子は「高野山の歴史を学びたい」と話し、ソフィー妃は「美しいつぼですね」と笑顔を見せた。

　その後、夫妻は高野山真言宗・総本山金剛峯寺を巡り、文化財を収蔵する高野山霊宝館にも足を運んで仏像や屏風（びょうぶ）などを鑑賞した。

　壇上伽藍（がらん）では、英国旗を持った地元の小中学生約４０人の歓迎を受け、にこやかに交流。子どもたちの案内で、境内の建造物「六角経蔵（きょうぞう）」などを興味深そうに見学した。

　夫妻をガイドした町立高野山中３年の女子生徒（１４）は「町が誇る高野山を夫妻に説明できる機会は二度とないと思うので、うれしかった」と振り返り、同中１年の男子生徒（１３）は「夫妻は『イギリスにぜひ来てください』と笑顔で言ってくれた。夢の通訳になるため、さらに頑張ろうと思った」と話した。

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are making a four-day official visit to Japan. On the second day of the visit, the Duchess of Edinburgh met with Ukrainian refugees at the Ukraine Mental Health Exchange Center – Shibuya Himawari in Tokyo. The Center, a non-profit organisation, is dedicated to supporting Ukrainian refugees and evacuees in Japan. Over 1,500 Ukrainian refugees are currently registered with the centre.

  

エディンバラ公爵夫妻は4日間の日本公式訪問をされています。訪問2日目、エディンバラ公爵夫人は東京にあるウクライナ・メンタルヘルス交流センター・渋谷ひまわりでウクライナ難民と面会しました。このセンターは非営利団体で、日本に滞在するウクライナ難民と避難民の支援に尽力しています。現在、1,500人以上のウクライナ難民がセンターに登録されています。

Afterwards, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Nezu Museum in Minato City. The museum, founded to conserve and exhibit the pre-modern Japanese and East Asian art collected by Nezu Kaichirō (1860–1940), houses approximately 7,600 works, including seven designated Japanese National Treasures.

 

その後、エディンバラ公爵夫人は港区にある根津美術館を訪問しました。根津美術館は、根津嘉一郎（1860〜1940）が収集した前近代日本および東アジア美術の保存・展示を目的として設立され、国宝7点を含む約7,600点の作品を所蔵しています。

In the afternoon of September 20, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited Miraikan, the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, which showcases cutting-edge science and technology related to themes such as space, the global environment, and robotics. For her morning engagements, the Duchess wore a 'Dolce' silk shirt dress by Suzannah. For her afternoon visit, she chose the brand’s 'Gabriella' floral-print silk dress.
